Tim Lane, Professor of Medicine, UNC School of Medicine, Emeritus
The 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic: The Future Ain’t What It Used to Be”
Tim Lane is Emeritus Professor of Medicine, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a background in internal medicine with a sub-specialty of infectious diseases. He has an undergraduate degree from Yale and MD from Cornell University, followed by medicine residency and fellowship in infectious diseases, all at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He joined the UNC teaching faculty in 1978 and spent most of my career at Cone Health as a teacher and clinician in the residency and medical student teaching programs and in developing the first infectious diseases service in Greensboro.
Tim developed early interests in healthcare policy and the prospects for improving access to care and particularly for patients with HIV/AIDS. Such considerations of access and justice were also taught to residents and students during my career. He feels fortunate to be still addressing these issues.
