Greensboro Rotary Angel Flight Team Flies Prostate Cancer Patient

The Greensboro Rotary Club’s Angel Flight team continues helping those in need with its free air transportation to special medical appointments. Our pilots volunteer to fly cancer patients, surgery patients, burn survivor children, transplant recipients, organ donors, kidney patients, and others dealing with chronic health issues at no charge.

Team pilot and retired American Airlines captain Gary Garavaglia from Statesville recently flew Kevin, an advanced prostate cancer patient, from his home in Rocky Mount to oncology specialists in Norfolk, VA. Our team and other volunteer pilots with the Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic region have been providing him with frequent air transportation to his important treatments, along with the hope for a cure. Kevin is very appreciative for the help the Greensboro Rotary Club and our Angel Flight team provide in flying him at no charge to his treatments.

The fuel for our team is funded by the Greensboro Rotary Club Foundation, enabling us to fly volunteer Angel Flight missions. The flights benefit chronically-ill children, adults, and military veterans/active soldiers by providing free air transportation to and from their special medical treatments and for reasons of compassion. Additionally, the team flies emergency supplies following hurricanes and other natural disasters.

Our pilots donate their time and private planes to assist those in need at no cost and on an unlimited basis. Club members and their families or friends needing flight assistance are encouraged to direct referrals to team manager Warren Ludlam at airlift.nc@gmail.com.
