Erica Procton

Erica Procton, sponsored by Bert Davis, Jr., joined our club in September, 2016. Not only does she have a strong interest in the excellent things Rotary does for Greensboro, but she wanted the opportunity to meet people outside of her regular day-to-day working life, much of which she spends at GreenHill.

Background and Family:  Originally from New York, Erica grew up on Long Island and after college lived  in Manhattan. She moved to Greensboro in 1992 with her (now ex-) husband, a native son of Greensboro, and over the past 25 years she has raised 2 children here as well as made many dear friends. Her son Alex, now 24, is in grad school in New York pursuing a Masters in Conservation Biology, and Jonas, 20, is heading into his junior year as an engineering major at Tufts University in Boston.

Educational and Professional Background:  After earning a BS in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Erica returned to her home state where she worked for many years in finance in New York City followed by pursuing a degree in interior design at Parsons School of Design there. When she moved to Greensboro she continued to work in design, opening a small home furnishing and accessories boutique here until she took time off while her children were young. She later returned to work in the nonprofit field where she has been able to combine her business experience with her desire to support the arts in Greensboro, first in marketing for the Greensboro Ballet and later in development for GreenHill.

Interests and Volunteer Experience:  In addition to volunteering at the Greensboro Day School when her sons attended there, Erica has been involved with the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro both on the marketing committee for eight years and on the board for six. Currently she is on the board of Weatherspoon Art Museum, which she considers one of the true gems of Greensboro, and she is part of the Program Committee for our club this year.  She loves to travel, cook, read, bike, and walk in addition to spending time with her family and friends.

The Rotary Club of Greensboro is fortunate to have Erica, with her winning smile and varied interests, talents, and accomplishments, as one of our members!
