Downtown Greensboro – Present and Future

Zack Matheny is the President of Downtown Greensboro Incorporated (DGI), an independent, non-profit agency established in 1997 to work closely with the private sector and local government to stimulate new investment and interest in Greensboro’s Central Business District. Mr. Matheny’s background blends government, nonprofit and civic involvement experience.

Since taking the position in July,2015, Downtown Greensboro has experienced tremendous growth with over $500 million in development, including numerous new restaurant and shops.  A new community branding campaign as well as public art and interactive pieces have aided to increase pedestrian activity in the center city.

Prior to his new role at DGI, Matheny was a four term Greensboro City Councilman and ran White Oak Capital, Inc. a real estate and business focused company. Matheny graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Originally from Statesville, North Carolina, Matheny graduated from North Carolina State University.
