Angel Flight Team Flies Eye Cancer Patient

by Warren Ludlam, Contributor

The Greensboro Rotary Angel Flight team, supported by the club’s Foundation which covers fuel used to fly our missions, continues to be very busy flying cancer patients, burn survivor children, tumor patients, organ donors, transplant patients, and others dealing with serious medical issues. And with the arrival of summer, we have begun flying campers with special medical problems into Greensboro for their nearby Victory Junction sessions.

Recently, club members Eric Perdew and Randy White volunteered to fly a patient with a rare type of eye cancer from Asheville to Philadelphia for clinical trial treatments being conducted by a renowned ophthalmologist. This specialist is her last resort in trying to save her vision. She is very thankful to the Greensboro Rotary club and Angel Flight for the free air transportation we are providing, as commercial air travel is cost prohibitive for her.

Donations by the Greensboro Rotary Club Foundation are used by our volunteer pilot team to provide the fuel for their private planes on Angel Flight missions, enabling them to aid people in need through our club’s support and service. The flights by Greensboro Rotary’s pilots benefit chronically ill children, adults, and active and veteran military personnel by making available free air transportation to/from their specialized medical appointments and for reasons of compassion.
