Embracing Life’s Possibilities: Reflections from the Camino de Santiago

Life is a journey brimming with endless possibilities, often leading us through unexpected twists and turns. We encounter challenges like a surprising diagnosis, recent hurricane destruction, or global pandemics. With every adventure, there is the opposing force of potential. In navigating these hurdles, we learn the importance of pivoting and adapting. If we stay open to these shifts, we discover valuable lessons and unforeseen opportunities, turning each challenge into a chance for growth.

Kristen Wither Yntema is the President and CEO of AuthoraCare Collective. AuthoraCare Collective supports patients and families by empowering people to be active participants in their care journey, enabling them to live on their own terms through personalized support for mind, body and spirit.

Yntema is a proven leader in the health care field. Previously, she has held roles as Vice President of Regional Development and Innovation at Advanced Home Care and as Executive Director of the Health Services division at Cone Health. Kristen started her career in Greensboro as an Administrative Fellow with Cone Health. In 2011, Kristen was named one of Triad Business Journal’s 40 Leaders Under 40 and in 2016 Outstanding Women in Business. In 2019, she was recognized and honored by the Triad Business Journal as being named one of the Most Admired CEOs of the Triad area for her outstanding performance in her role as a community leader. She currently serves as the Vice Chair of the North Carolina Association of Home Care and Hospice, as the Chair Cone Health Foundation Board and the Secretary/Treasurer for PACE of the Triad Board of Directors. Yntema earned her Masters of Health Services Administration and her Masters of Business Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attained her bachelor’s degree from Elon University and was named Elon University’s Distinguished Alumna of the Year in 2024.

Brady A. Yntema is a skilled litigator with over 20 years of experience representing clients in the defense of complex claims involving toxic tort, occupational hazards, construction, environmental pollution, trucking and transportation, and intellectual property. Over the course of his career, Brady has also handled a substantial number of catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases, and he has served as lead trial counsel in state and federal courts throughout North Carolina.
