Building Industry Update

Jon Hardister was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. He is a graduate of Grimsley High School and Greensboro College, where he obtained a BA in Political Science.

After college, Jon worked as the Vice President for Marketing at First Carolina Mortgage. In 2012, he was elected to the NC House of Representatives, serving six terms before retiring in 2024. In 2016, he was elected by his peers to serve as the NC House Majority Whip, one of the top leadership positions in the NC General Assembly. Jon is the youngest and longest-serving NC House Majority Whip in state history.

Jon chaired several committees during his time in the NC House of Representatives, including Education – Universities, Appropriations – Education, and Appropriations – Capital. He has received several awards and recognitions for his work in the legislature.

After leaving office, Jon was selected to serve as the President of TREBIC. His knowledge of state and local government, combined with his ability to collaborate with others and solve problems, made him a natural fit for the position. The Triad Business Journal designated Jon as one of their “Five to Watch” in their “Power 50 Leaders” ranking in the Triad shortly after Jon began his tenure at TREBIC.
