Update on activities in Greensboro Coliseum Complex, Tanger Center and GAC

Scott E. Johnson is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina and has a 33-year career in sports and facility management including 32 with the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. He has served in multiple positions in the Greensboro Coliseum Complex management structure starting in the Assistant Ticket Manager’s position and working his way through Event Manager, Event Services, Booking & Marketing and is currently the Deputy Director of Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Scott was Business Manager of Aycock Auditorium at UNCG in 1990 before starting with Greensboro Coliseum.

Scott manages the booking and operations of more than 1,300 events annually at the Coliseum Complex plus books major events in LJVM Coliseum, BB&T Field and assists GCC clients looking for the correct size venues in the marketplace. Scott oversaw three major stadium concerts at Wake Forest Truist field including Guns N’Roses, Billy Joel and Paul McCartney stadium concerts with nearly 35,000 in attendance at each show.

Scott has served alongside Director Matt Brown in his 28 years in Greensboro and has assisted in directing Greensboro Coliseum Complex to the most successful period of its 64-year history. Johnson has supervised or booked more than 12,000 events including some of the biggest events in the Triad’s history including:

  • Phish in Concert on March 1, 2003 (largest single night GCC concert at 23,800)

Scott has participated in leading numerous community event committees including the Civil Rights Museum grand opening, past GMA annual dinner host committees and a 32 veteran of the Greensboro Sports Foundation (former Tournament Host Committee of Greensboro).

Johnson is a 1990 graduate of Wake Forest University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Business and Accountancy. Scott hobbies include event work, his Scottish Terrier, college football games, the beach, music, golf and exercise.
