Collaborative Nursing in NC and Moldova
Dr. Nancy Hoffart joined the School of Nursing, University of North Carolina at Greensboro on September 1, 2016, as the Forsyth Medical Center Distinguished Professor. She has been an active member of the NC-Moldova Nursing Collaborative since then.
Dr. Hoffart received her BS in nursing from South Dakota State University, MS in nursing from the University of Minnesota, and PhD in nursing from the University of Virginia. She completed a post-doctoral research fellowship as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Nurse Scholar at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY. Prior to joining UNCG she worked at Lebanese American University, Byblos, Lebanon, Northeastern University School of Nursing, Boston; and the University of Kansas School of Nursing. She has over 25 years’ experience in nursing education, having taught at bachelor, master’s and doctorate levels and led the development of nursing programs at all levels. She is an active researcher, with over 50 publications, as well as many recognitions and awards for her work. Much of her work has focused on change and innovation in nursing and health care.

Deborah Lekan, PhD, RN-BC is a faculty member at the UNCG School of Nursing where she teaches gerontological nursing and other courses in the undergraduate, master’s degree, and doctorate of nursing practice programs. She also conducts research in aging and geriatrics. She has been involved with the NC-Moldova Nursing Collaborative since 2015 and has been to Moldova five times. She serves as co-chair with Dr Nancy Hoffart. Deborah has been a member of Guilford Rotary Club since 2018 and has received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award.
