Harry Thetford, Author and News & Record Veterans’ Writer

“Semper Fidelis”

Harry Thetford is the veterans’ writer for the Greensboro News & Record. He retired from Sears, Roebuck & Company in 1989. From 1976-1989 he was manager of the Friendly Center store. During those same years, he was a member of the Greensboro Rotary Club.

He met and married Martha Blue while both were students at the University of Southern Mississippi. They have three grown children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

As avid RV’ers for over 30 years, Martha and Harry RV’ed every state, every province, and seven European countries. They are active members of Lawndale Baptist Church.

Harry is the author of “KEEP THEIR STORIES ALIVE and REMEMBERED.” He is the founding Historian of the Carolina Field of Honor, and Historian of the Marine Corps League Detachment 260.
