My Experiences as a Superior Court Judge

Superior Court Judge Paul Jones received a BS degree from the NC A&T State University and his JD from NC Central University School of Law. He served as attorney advisor and Assistant Clerk of Court for the U.S. Supreme Court, Washington, D.C. He served 12 years in private practice and as a District Court Judge for District 8 in Lenoir, Wayne and Greene Counties. Judge Jones was appointed to the NC Superior Court in 1999 and elected unopposed in 2000 and 2008.

He is proud of his military service graduating from the U.S. Army Judge Advocate Officer’s basic and advanced courses in Charlottesville, VA and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer’s course Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. He served as a Judge Advocate for the U.S. Army and chief legal assistance officer for the 2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood, Texas. He retired as colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He has served on the Lenoir Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, the N.C. State Banking Commission, as President Community Council of the Arts of Lenoir County, President Lenoir County Bar Association and the Eighth Judicial District Bar Association and he currently serves on NC A&T State University Board of Trustees. He is a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine and the John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award from the NC State Bar Association.
