Young Mouth Surgery Patient Helped by Greensboro Rotary’s Angel Flight Team
By Warren Ludlam, Contributor
The Greensboro Rotary Angel Flight team, supported by the club’s Foundation which covers fuel used to fly our missions, continues to be very busy helping fly cancer patients, burn survivor children, tumor patients, organ donors, transplant patients, and others dealing with serious medical issues. With summer here, we will additionally begin flying Victory Junction campers in for their free sessions.
Recently, Jon Wells, one of our club’s team pilots, flew the below young boy home to Asheville following his latest mouth and jaw reconstructive surgery performed by specialists in Norfolk, VA. He has been going through many related surgical procedures since he was three years old, with Angel Flight taking care of his air transportation. He and his family are very grateful to our Rotary club and Angel Flight for the assistance we provide to them at no cost.
Donations by the Greensboro Rotary Club Foundation are used by our volunteer pilot team to provide the fuel for their private planes on Angel Flight missions, enabling them to aid people in need through our club’s support and service. The flights by Greensboro Rotary’s pilots benefit chronically ill children, adults, and active and veteran military personnel by making available free air transportation to/from their specialized medical appointments and for reasons of compassion.
