New Member Roundup
Between July 1 and December 31, 2021, we added eight new club members. Here’s a brief bio for each one.
John Thomas is the President of IDeACOM Of Central NC, Inc.
Favorite things: beach life, fishing, and college football – no wonder, he was a member of the 1977 Notre Dame National Championship team! John currently serves on the boards of BBB, GMA and FirstPoint.
Chris Raymer is a Corps Officer with the Salvation Army. Chris and his wife Carla are the commanding officers in Greensboro. Chris is at his best when he is in the throws of community involvement. His hobbies include playing the piano and trumpet and good food experiences. He was previously a member of the Frederick, MD, Rotary Club.
Brian MacKenzie is a retired physician who enjoys spending his time working with the Greensboro Urban Ministry, the Out of the Garden Project, and his church leadership. In addition his hobbies include golf, baking desserts, and ballroom dancing.
Brian James is the Chief of Police for the Greensboro Police Department. In addition to serving on a number of state and national level law enforcement related boards, Brian is vice chair of Guilford Child Development and Chair for Malachi House. His hobbies include riding motorcycles, running & physical fitness, reading.
Michael Pittman is an agent and owner of Michael Pittman Insurance Agency, Inc. Michael is active with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and serves on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Piedmont and Welfare Reform Liaison Project. A former member of the Jamestown Rotary Club, Michael also served a term as President.
Kevin Bostian is the Interim Director of Athletics at UNCG. Prior to UNCG, Kevin worked in collegiate athletics at NC State and Georgia Southern, where he first became a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Statesboro, GA. Kevin counts among his hobbies obstacle course racing, golf and spending time with family.
Matt Hunter is the President/Owner of New Garden Landscaping and Nursery. Matt spends a week every summer with youth of his church on a mission trip in the Appalachian Mountains. He also serves on his church’s cemetery committee – well played – bet it is beautifully landscaped! His hobbies include exercising, flyfishing, and spending time with family.
Ken Flynt has 3 job titles: Visiting Professor/Financial Consultant/Corporate Director. He currently serves 8 boards including the NC State Banking Commission and various advisory boards at UNCG, Guilford College and WCU. Ken has been a member of a number of Rotary Clubs including Waynesville, Kernersville, and Rocky Mount. If all of that doesn’t keep him busy enough, he has a slew of hobbies including golf, tennis, basketball, pickleball, reading, and rock and beach music.
