Johnny Moore, Executive Director of the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame
After serving 14 years as a member of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, Johnny Moore has been named Executive Director of the Hall. Moore is a native of Garner, NC where he lettered in football and track at Garner Senior High School. After high school, Moore went on to run track at Guilford College, where he started his career as Sports Information Director as a student in 1974. Moore is a 2004 inductee into the Guilford College Athletic Hall of Fame. Following graduation, Moore joined the Duke sports information staff in 1977 working as assistant and associate sports information director, and later as Director of Promotions and Marketing for the Blue Devils.
In 1990 he began his own communications company and during those years purchased the rights to the Duke Radio Network and the Duke coaches’ radio and TV shows where he served as Executive Producer. Moore also served as publisher for Blue Devil Weekly, Falcons Extra for the Atlanta Falcons, Pirates’ Chest for East Carolina University, Ramblin Wreck for Georgia Tech, Basketball America, NC Architecture for AIA North Carolina and the ACC Basketball Tournament program.
For over a decade he has worked on the national level with ISP, IMG and Learfield, first as president of Blue Devil IMG Sports Marketing and now as a Senior National Associate working with over 170 universities across the country and some of the nation’s largest corporations.
Moore has authored two books and is currently in his 15th year serving as a Senior Lecturer at Duke University. He proudly serves as a board member of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle and sits on the North Carolina Golf Panel.
