Gary is a native of Orange Park, Florida. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served six years on ships in San Diego, CA.

In 2002, he became a Scouting professional as a Local Representative just outside of Jacksonville where he was raised.

He served in capacities of increasing responsibility and in April 2019, he became the Chief Operating Officer for the chapter headquartered in Greensboro which serves 4,300 youth in 8 counties of the Piedmont Triad.

Gary became a Rotarian in Orange Park in 2003 and with each move with the Boy Scouts, was a member of clubs in Gainesville and Jacksonville, FL. He is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Greensboro. He enjoys boating, fishing and rugby.
