Gareth Clews, Executive Director, Camp Weaver, YMCA

Making Memories, Changing Lives

Gareth Clews has been the Executive Director at Camp Weaver since June 2022. He is responsible for all maintenance and operations at the 130-acre facility. Activities include Overnight Camps, Day Camps, Retreats, Corporate Team Building and Outdoor Education and can be for both YMCA participants or youth and adults from outside the YMCA community.

Gareth Spent several years serving in a leadership capacity at Hands in 4 Youth, an NJ-based organization focused on providing quality summer camp experiences to at risk children who would otherwise be unable to experience summer camp. He has track record of creating and growing programs, as well as successfully leading teams, currently building upon the past successes of Camp Weaver. 

Originally from Scotland, Gareth has worked on three continents and has a wealth of experience in camping and youth development, including most recently serving as the Director of Youth Development at YMCA of Coastal Carolina. Previous programs have received the (Hello Insights) HI-IMPACT award for social-emotional learning and received personal recognition for success in overnight camp.

Gareth and his wife, Laura, are foster parents which keep them busy as well as fostering dogs (unsuccessfully). Gareth enjoys all things soccer spends his weekends as a volunteer coach, or playing himself or watching it on the couch.
