District 7690 Conference – Fun and Inspiring

by Andy Hines, Contributor

The 2018 District 7690 Conference was held recently in Pinehurst.  Attending were President Lori Haddock, President-Elect Larry Moore, President-Nominee Sam Funchess, our Club Administrator,  as well as other members and their spouses. Four keynote speakers covered a wide range of interesting topics including an update on Rotary International. We heard words of inspiration from the first female wheelchair athlete to compete in the Ironman World Championship and also from a Bronze Star Medal recipient who spoke about his passion for enriching the lives of America’s veterans.

Each year a presentation from our District’s exchange students is always a highlight of the Conference. In addition, updates are given on various club projects. Our club also has a display board which depicts many of our past and current projects.  On Sunday there is an Interfaith Service at which time deceased Rotarians from the past year are remembered.

District Governor-Elect, Claudia Canady, has selected Greenville, South Carolina for next year’s Conference site which will be held April 25-27.  Plan to join us next year for a fun and inspiring event.
